zofia is combining experimental electronic music, sacred music, and opera with political philosophy, cultural heritage, and performance art.
Spawning their artistry from the DIY scene after leaving a classical opera career and academia in Chicago, zofia channels ethereal sounds, radical presence, and devoted rhythms to explore platonic space, mysticism, nonconsensual societal frameworks, and our place (or lack thereof) in late stage capitalism and now rising fascism.
zofia grew up in a Polish-American homeschooled household in Southwest Florida. They spent their days singing early church music and performing as a classical vocalist to make their way out of the cycle of poverty. As a child holocaust survivor and eventual dancer for the National Ballet in Soviet Poland, zofia’s father has informed zofia’s role and responsibility in the inheritance of their cultural heritage and musical talent. Now, as they are developing their own sense of post-institutional reality, zofia uses audio engineering and extended vocal technique featuring soaring harmonies and unconventional textural mood shifts to share their intensely-felt calling.
